Why Don’t We Claim The Victory? It’s A Secret.

Why don’t we claim the victory?

God has overcome.  He has already claimed the victory, yet many of us don’t walk in that victory.  Most of us swim through the current of life and do not claim what we already have through Him.

He goes before us.  “The Lord will go before you. . .”

He goes behind. “And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12

He is by our side. “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you . He will not fail you or forsake you.”  Deut. 31:6

We are, you could say, surrounded by His protection.

He is our helmet of salvation.  “The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.”  Ps 118:14

He is our breastplate of righteousness.  “And this is His name by which He will be called, “The Lord our righteousness.”  Jeremiah 23:6

He is our peace.  “Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and named it ‘The Lord is Peace.'” Judges 6:24

He is our belt of truth. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”  John 14:6

He is our sword because the sword is the word. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”  John 1:14

We have everything we need to live in victory, yet we don’t.  We feel defeated, overwhelmed, and broken.

You see, that is how the bad guy wants you to feel and he has convinced most of us we are broken, unable to enter the battlefield.

But if we choose to take up the armor of God, which is God himself, nothing can defeat us.  Satan knows this, and he will do anything to keep you from putting on your weapons.  He will do anything to keep your faith doubting, your insecurity growing, your fears rising.

But Jesus wants us to walk the path of victory.  To do that, He told us to follow Him.  To strive to be like Him.  To overcome through Him.  To put on our armor.

Because He put us here to do what He did.

He put us here to FIGHT the darkness.

“Truly truly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater work than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” John 14

“He will do even greater things than these.”

Has that verse ever bothered you?  Stuck out to you?  Caused you to pause?

It has me.

Really?  I mean Jesus walked on water.   Jesus turned the water into wine.   Jesus healed the lamb and the blind and the deaf. . .

Greater?

You gotta be kidding.

Nope.  Jesus said so, and His word is the WORD, which is HIM, which is TRUTH.

You will do even greater things than these.

Why?

Because if we are walking in Him, He surrounds us.  He is our sword, our shield, our helmet, our righteousness, our everything.  When we claim the victory through Him it is still HIM who is victorious.  That is the secret.  That is the key.  It is Him.

It is always Him, is it not?

That is how pride can stay far away from the child of God.  They know it is Him, not them.  It is Him and Him alone who can win the victory.

That is the secret.

We have to put on what we already own and OWN it.

That helmet of salvation should bounce off the enemies lies, telling us we aren’t God’s child.

That breastplate of righteousness should remind us how we look to our God.  He looks on us without wrath because we are wearing the garment of His Son.  We are loved.  We are cherished.  We are His.

That belt of truth should hold us together, giving us direction and discernment as we swim through the darkness, shining His light.

Those shoes of peace should remind us to walk in love at all times, as He did, but they should also be able to stomp on the enemy and step out in boldness.

That shield of faith should block the enemies assault telling us we aren’t good enough, we arn’t strong enough, and aren’t smart enough to step out into the battlefield.

The secret is, we aren’t strong enough.  He is.  End of story, Satan.  Bye bye turkey on rye.

We can slay the enemy and walk in victory because all our defenses are HIM.  How to you slash the devil?  Use the sword of the word.  How do you fight the enemies lies?  You stand firm in truth.  How do you battle fears?  You remind yourself that God surrounds you.

He surrounds you.

I’ve got to start walking in victory.  So do you.  Because we are “more than conquerors through Him who loved us”  Romans 8:37.

I dare you to put on your armor.

Go ahead, try it.  See what happens.

Let’s get Satan a little bloody.
