Let me define a day of Blah: A day where nothing seems to be going forward. You feel restless and weary. You feel slightly worthless and useless. You can’t concentrate, and you are absolutely in a foul mood for NO particular reason.
I hate those days. I had one yesterday. It was downright horrible until God came through with some encouraging words (as He always does).
On this particular day of Blah I felt a little forgotten, like my life was a bit of a waste. I even wrote in my journal “Feeling insignificant today.”
Then that night I was reading my son his bedtime Bible story. At the end of this particular story it went into a little bit of a modern day explanation and application. It started like this. . .
“Ever feel like you’re having one of those days. Maybe you feel like you just don’t measure up.”
Had Daddy penned those words that morning? Seriously. I read on.
“The Devil loves to try to make us believe we’re nobodies. But God says we are strong. You have what it takes. You are important. God wants to make us heroes.”
God wants to make us heroes.
Feeling worthless? Like your life isn’t that awesome? That you just aren’t getting anywhere?
God wants to make you a hero.
And He will.
He turned Deborah into a judge and leader. Doesn’t sound too impressive until you realize that she was a woman – before the time of Jesus. Ah, women just weren’t leaders back then. They were second-class citizens. They were nobodies really.
But God doesn’t play by man’s rules. God called Deborah and Deborah had the kahoonas to trust Him. (Judges 4)
He made her a hero.
Then there was Gideon. Gideon was the least man in the least tribe. He was a nobody. But God said he was a mighty warrior. (Judges 6)
Daddy made Gideon a hero.
And what about Moses. I mean Moses – THE MOSES – told God to “Please send someone else.” Exodus 4:13
But God knew who Moses was. He was a hero. Just like Gideon and Deborah.
What about you? Where are you in your life? Are you in a Day of Blah?
God knows who you are, even if you don’t. God can see you as a hero, even if you can’t.
God is in the hero making business and He has plans for you my friend. He has plans. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I will leave you with a word from Deborah. “But let those who love Him be like the rising of the sun in its might” (Judges 5:31)
You are a hero in the making.
