In The Darkness, Focus On Your Purpose. Want To Know What It Is?

Death.  Darkness.  Blackness.  Hopelessness. Tears.  Pain.  Overwhelming Grief.  I have felt them all.  I have lived it.  And I am sorry if you have felt it too.

It was NOT God’s desire for us.  He HATES death.  He hates it.

That is why He overcame it.  That is why He died – to conquer it for us.  So we can live again in Eden, the garden of the Lord (Isaiah 51:3)

Six months after my husband was killed in Iraq, I wrote this in my journal.

November 28, 2006

Yesterday I was just overcome with joy.  I am going to see Doug again and I will be with him again.  That is for sure – one hundred percent.  Jesus promised me that!  Rachelle’s dream from God assured me of that.  Where would we be withouth Jesus?  How can anyone do this world without Him?  I mean we are assured of heaven.  We are assured.  Do NOT let your hearts be troubled – trust in God – trust also in me (John 14:1).

Praise the Lord above, ! will be with Doug again.  Hallelujah!  This world is not IT!

It is scarey though.  How one minute you can be so focused on God and then you walk into the world and your focus goes away.  No wonder God says to worship together etc. You need amunition!  God help me keep my focus.

I miss my husband but praise be to God, we will be together again.  I love you God.  Tell Doug I’m coming.  I just have to be here a little while longer.

– – –

I remember that day.  I remember the joy almost bubbling out of me.  The day before and the day after I did not have it as completely as I had it that day.  I still remember the feeling – and how odd – yet how right – it felt.  I was driving, going to the grocery store, listening to praise music, and it just overcame me.  Like a tsunami of promise, God’s truth poured in.

This life has one important goal – to SHINE HIm.   WE MUST SHINE HIM.  In grief, in sorrow, in pain, in tears, in happiness, in laughter, in acomplishment, in everything.  Want to know your purpose?  You just found it.

SHINE HIM.  In your unique way.  With your unique flare.  SHINE HIM.

What does He command us to do?

“Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” Matt. 9:25

To the unbeliever, this sounds horrific.  Even to the believer, this sounds harsh.  But remember that purpse?  That is what Jesus is asking.  This world is going to punch you in the gut.  At times you will feel like a small button in the world’s largest washing machine. You will get dashed, you will get pounded, and part of you may break like shattering glass.

But the world can’t have you.   This life is a race.  It is a race to the finish line of Eden.

“Run in such a way that you may win the prize.” 1 Cor. 9:24

In the garden, we chose sin.  At the cross, God chose us. Now this life is a choice.  God is asking us to give it up – to SHINE HIm – and then He will get us back to where we belong.  SHINE Him and you will FIND life eternal.

Eden.  HIm.  Peace.  Contentment.  Happiness.  Joy.

Bubblling over tsunami-like joy.  It is ours if we give up this life to SHINE Him.  And when we do that, we FIND life – we FIND Eden.

“The land is like the garden of Eden before them” Joel 2:3.

We are walking into Eden.

But see, here is the kicker.  The world and the jerk don’t want you to know this secret. They don’t want for your purpose to become clear.  They don’t want you to walk down the road no one else has gone – and that is what you must do.  Because shining Him is unique to you.  No one else has ever walked your path.  No one can.  He made you unique.

The jerk doesn’t want you to understand that Eden is on its way.  The world doesn’t want you to believe no matter what kind of pain befalls us here, God can right it.  The world will try to take that promise away.  The jerk will give you false visions of heaven: sitting on a cloud, playing a harp, bored out of your ever-loving mind.

That is NOT truth.  That is NOT God.  And that is certainly NOT Eden.

In the darkness, remember this.  Shine Him.  Shine Him because this life is not IT.  This life is only a race to life eternal – to Eden.

“Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” Matt. 9:25

You will find it.  Eden will return.  And Daddy God will make everything right.

And Jesus will SHINE forever.

Amen and Amen. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
