Went to church last Sunday and they played the song “White Flag” by Chris Tomlin. Listen to the lyrics. . .
“The battle rages on
As storm and tempest roar
We cannot win this fight
Inside our rebel hearts
We’re laying down our weapons now
We raise our white flag
All to You
All for You
We raise our white flag
The war is over
Love has come
Your love has won
Here on this Holy ground
You made a way for peace
Laying your body down
You took our rightful place
This freedom song is marching on
We lift the cross
Lift it high lift it high”
Want to surrender to God?
Surrender does not mean to give up. Surrender means to relinquish control.
Surrender means to give HIM control.
We have to know that we can’t win this thing. But HE can…
“Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but Gods.” 1 Chron. 20:15b
We have to lay down our weapons and take up HIS invisible ones (Eph 6:1-18). When we do that we will know . . .
“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.
We have to make sure our actions stem from LOVE because God’s actions stem from LOVE – even if He is BOLD in that LOVE.
“God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. . . We love each other as a result of His loving us first.” 1 John 4:16b-17, 19 “I. . . hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ. . . and that my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or I die.” Phil 1:20-21
We have to lift up the cross. We have to lift up HIM. He has to be first because He IS first. HE has to be the banner we wave, not ourselves. We have to empty ourselves to lift HIM up, and when we lift HIM up HE lifts US up.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God; that He may exalt you at the proper time.” 1 Peter 5:6
Here is the secret. We can have peace. The secret of peace is surrender. The secret of peace is Him.
And here is the best part of the secret. . . .
We can tell it to everyone we know. We all can have it – have Him.
Relax your hold.
and when we do, when we do, we can have peace. . .
and that peace is Him.
